Hi I was asked by CAF( Child Alert Foundation)http://www.ChildAlert.org to help spread the word about a boy who was the victom of a hit and run driver.Here is a clip of his story.
Eric, at the age of 10, was a victom of a hit and run driver and left with every bone in his body broken. He has a 68 degree bend in his spine, is paralyzed from his neck down. He has daily migrane headaches. To add heart ache to misery for his family, the insurance cancelled out on them.
The current van the family owns is old and not as reliable for the over 100 mile required trips to the hospital. Eric will be facing surgury to relieve pressure where his spine is restricting circulation of blood The doctors will try to straighten it with a series of rods, but even so, it's a dangerous proceedure. Please pray for Eric and his family.His family is loving and devoted to his care, but resources are limited. Help us to get them a new van!

If this is for real...I'd just like to say that my discovery of your music as a 20 year old at this very point in my life has affected me in ways you could never understand. Music appreciation is #1 on my list of things to do on my own time and you, collectively, take up an enormous percentage of my listening time. You should be forever filled with pride in all of the accomplishments you have made...no one can ever take that away from you...just what you want to be you will be in the end and to be in your shoes musically would be the begining of all ends.

Well the rumor I heard was, that you are comtemplating relasing your concert from Roskilde - is there any truth in that? lou, i recently died and wanted to thank you for sort of being there with me. the new album somewhat parralled my whole experience. that is to say that those words rang loud and true. it was really special that someone understood, especially you. i used to write you letters 15 years ago when i was 18 asking to play drums for you and through the years have followed your art(music). sort of like a spirit guide. any how, having been put in the laddle and poured back upon the earth, the new album has really helped me describe, even to myself, the experience. an ecstatic peace i've heard it called. epiphony. i really like "don't be afraid" reminds me of the walt whitman quote, "who need be afraid of the merge?" the backside of the experience did, in fact leave me feeling like a burnt out car with no battery, radio or hood and i do also feel like an indentured servant to this life not quite ready for the next thing allowed only to shoot little spurts and that is going to have to be good enough. i could probably spiel on and on but mostly i just wanted to say thanx for being there. foz

How's the crack ? When are you playing in Ireland again ? I missed the concert with yourself, Nick Cave, and David Gray in Skiberreen, Co. Cork about 2 years ago. I bought your new album and I'm impressed with it so far but I will have to scrutinize a little more later. So where do I go to see you play in Ireland is the question ? My brother said he met you in a music shop in New York a few years back by accident. He might have mentioned something about doing an album sleeve for ya. He has done afew already. He's back home now though, building his timber frame house, smoking a little of the pot stuff, and painting the cows. I have too many favourite LR & VU songs, but one is I Heard Her Call My Name (VU) for its unsurpassed manic guitar solo and another (off the top of my head) is Romeo Had Juliette .. great lyrics! Looking forward to the new album.
